AMERSHAM CC Sunday 1st X1 v Chorleywood on Sun 03 May 2009 at 14:00
AMERSHAM CC Won 153 runs
Match report
Amersham entertained Chorleywood on a sunny day at Shardeloes. A Viney was looking to keep the winning run continue against Robbie Marshs' old team. Amersham won the toss and once more decided to have a bat, something which they were becoming accustomed too in recent weeks. Lessons learnt from a certain Saturday 1s skipper perhaps? Amersham got off to a miserly start Ketteringham doing little more than holding up an end scoring just 1 run off 24 balls, the little crowd that were there celebrated his dismissal and hoped there was more excitement to come from the rest of the home side. R Viney(102) was in a rich vein of form in recent weeks and this continued with him hitting shots to all corners of the ground. Rob was supported well by the Janitor(23) until he duly got out playing the sweep shot AGAIN! The Viney brothers were now together at the crease picking off runs at every opportunity and Andy finished 8 runs short of his century. Amersham closed their innings on 235 for 6.
Alex Lines(1-12) the new overseas was playing his first Sunday game having arrived earlier on in the week from Australia. He took a wicket with the first ball of the innings enticing the batsmen to middle it to Monty at midwicket. Wickets tumbled at regular intervals in particular David Sidebottom(4-15) bowled beautifully in his 9 overs, however one spectator had to be asked to leave as they described Sidey's bowling as, "Sidey, you bowl pies and Elliot eats them". Supported well by Robbie and H Amersham were too strong for a weakened Chorleywood side and bowled the opposition out for 82 runs.
Next week sees the start of the league season and Amersham hope to be challenging for the title, based on the last 3 results we could just do it!
