Match report A hot one - that was made even harder with the skipper losing his 6th straight toss....and obviously being put into field.

Bowling was tough and the batting was erratic - if it was baseball, they would've ben struck out for very little. However, it isn't and they weren't - balls went flying to all parts. At one point we were wondering what would happen if we ran out of balls! Their opener hit the ball to all parts, often badly, mis-timing many boundaries and lucky not to snick off multiple times. Aarav Parik was the pick of the bowlers, bringing the run rate down to a respectable level - bowing 9 overs for 28 runs and one wicket, unlucky to not pick up more. Containing them for 288, with a quick outfield, was a reasonable effort and we were confident, provided wickets remained in hand, to chase it down.

However, wickets came too frequently for us to ever gain complete control. Young Shiv, being brought up from the 4s, opened the batting and scored good 50 however wickets fell around him. Umpiring then played its usual part in the middle and forced the scoring rate up to a difficult level. Ferneyhough and Knight brought some respectability into the score, and gave a glimmer of hope until Ferneyhough's poles were ruined. That fairly much ended our chances, and left a little too much for Oscar Knight to do.

In hindsight, another game we should have won - just need to be a little tighter with the ball in hand - runs seem to be coming ok.
