Match report Amersham collapsed to a humiliating defeat at Division Two’s bottom club Redingensians … despite a brilliant display by Mustapha Rajabali who took 8-59 off 26 overs. Amersham’s woeful batting handed the host their first win of the season.

The home side never threatened a large total as they could not master the spin of Rajabali. The Amersham bowler was backed by his fielders who held nine catches.

The Redingensians total of 170 all out really should not have trouble a side capable of chasing much higher scores. Amersham were handicapped by an injury to Jeremy Hemmings who suffered a painful blow whilst fielding at silly mid-off.

In reply they made yet another poor start, slumping to 61-6. Only Sean Stanley, with 30, had offered any resistance. A timely boost came when Duncan Ward joined his captain Jeremy Fisher and together they put on 59. After Ward was somewhat unluckily run out on 37, the innings quickly folder.

Promotion back to the top flight now looks out of reach for Amersham, ninth in the table. Tomorrow they are at home to second placed Barnes.
