Match report Amersham bowlers turned in a magnificent performance when all looked lost on Saturday at Shardeloes against Hampton Wick Royal.

Back from the bright lights of Blackpool, Mustapha Rajabali was meanness personified when he tied up one end completely. But Duncan Ward was the spearhead with 3-14 in eight overs. He was superbly backed by Rajabali and Jeremy Hemmings, with Tim Aylott giving the coup de grace with two wickets in two balls.

Amersham are now fourth in Division Two, 13 points behind leaders Cove.

Batting first, Amersham looked set for another home defeat with their makeshift side offering little resistance on a wicket giving assistance to all bowlers.

Suresh Perumal made a stylish 33 and Renny Adams made a vital 27 late on before Amersham were dismissed for a scant 120.

Hemmings made the initial breakthrough after a good opening spell. Then two fine pieces of fielding turned the match Amersham’s way. Fist a fine catch by skipper Jeremy Fisher account for Royal opener Browning for 32. A brilliant run out, effected by Perumal, left the visitors struggling on 50-4.

Ward then ripped out the middle odder and Rajabali stifled the runs from one end. It was left to Aylott to seal the 25 points when, with just two deliveries, he knocked over the last two wickets.
